Chartered in March 1944, Soroptimist International of Courtenay has a diverse membership of business, professional and other dedicated women wanting to volunteer and be involved in the local and global community.  Their talents and energies fuel the enthusiasm for our annual fundraisers and projects. We are a group of successful, caring women striving to help other women to be their best.

Locally we provide ongoing support to many organizations, including the Comox Valley Transition Society, Comox Valley Hospice Society, Today ‘N’ Tomorrow Learning Society, D.A.R.E., Comox Bay Care Society, Stepping Stones Recovery House for Women Society, Glacier View Lodge ‘Book of Lights’, North Island Festival of Performing Arts, Dawn To Dawn Action on Homelessness and the annual Comox Valley Child Development Association Telethon.  We also provide bursaries to high school students entering post-secondary studies and to North Island College students.

Our Club Signature Project - ‘SoroptiPaks’, provides starter kits of basic household items for women and their children who striking out on their own after living in difficult situations. This is primarily referred by the Comox Valley Transition Society.

We participate in Soroptimist International of the America’s Signature Projects Live Your Dream: Education and Training Awards for Women and Dream It Be It: Career Support for Girls.  We are very proud that one of the models for the latter is our Yes You Can Mentoring Day for young women aged 16-18 in our community that we established several years ago and now carry on under the ‘new’ name.

Beyond our local community we support the Soroptimist Foundation of Canada, the SIA Club Giving Campaign, and the Soroptimist International December 10th President’s Appeal.
