Improving the lives of Women and GirlsSoroptimist International of the Americas, Inc. Western Canada Region
WC Soroptimist

SI of Surrey/Delta

Chartered in 1995.
Our club was chartered on March 15th 1995 with 18 members. Some of our first projects were funding the training of a guide dog for the blind, women’s transition home care kits, cutting and styling hair for a local drug rehabilitation home, working at the Food Bank, and funding NAG ( a single Mom’s program). We also provided funding for the SAS program, that are helping young women “leave the streets”. We have also supported the SOS homes (these are group homes that have consistent parent figures that live in the home and care for children that are Wards of the Government). One of our larger projects was contributing over $25,000 to our local Cancer Treatment Centre and providing the funds to have some “breast boards” made for the treatment of Breast Cancer.Over the years we have been constantly looking for projects that will further the cause of making the lives of women and girls better. In the past we have put on a Live Your Dreams teen one day activity day, with interactive skills as well as some informative seminars. We are currently working on a project for FASD young women. (Fetal Alcohol Syndrome)

We have discovered that working together and accomplishing things for our community are very rewarding activities and we also have fun in our association with each other, and have social activities together frequently throughout the year.

If you like associating with other women and “making good things happen” come join us. Our meeting happens once a month on the second Thursday of the month. We meet at 6:00 at Ricky’s Restaurant on the corner of Fraser Hwy and 152 for dinner and our meeting begins at 7:00. Come check us out!!
