Chartered in 2009.
Soroptimist International of Ridge Meadows is one of the newest clubs in Western Canada Region, chartered in January 2009. Members of S I of Ridge Meadows are diligently working to create a significant presence in the communities of Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows. We strive to become a household name within our community.
Our first fundraising effort at the Maple Ridge Legion saw funds raised to assist Cythera Transition House in the renovation of their well-used kitchen. Our first fundraising effort was a success and members look forward to future successes with the support of our communities.
Future projects include support for our newly adopted international project, PREFER (Poverty Reduction, Education & Family Empowerment in Rwanda). The project was conceived by a 3rd generation member of the community of Maple Ridge, Cathy Emmerson in 2002. This project is an educational project that promotes a “hand up”, as opposed to a “hand out”. S I Ridge Meadows goal is to raise $10,000 to assist in construction of school buildings, a kitchen and plumbed bathrooms.

History of Ridge Meadows
Maple Ridge was incorporated in 1874, making it the sixth oldest municipality in British Columbia. Maple Ridge currently has a population of approximately 75,000. Pitt Meadows, incorporated in 1914, sits adjacent to Maple Ridge on the west side, with a current population of about 15,000. The two municipalities work together on may fronts; recycling & waste, health faculties, sporting groups and community service organizations.
Ridge Meadows boasts some of the best recreation sites in the lower mainland for the outdoor enthusiast; the Golden Ears Provincial Park contains the beautiful Alouette Lake and many campgrounds set within a stunning, old-growth BC forest.
Ridge Meadows is a growing community, with easy access to Vancouver and all the charm of a small town. Farming activity is plentiful and Ridge Meadows is adorned with much agriculturally protected land which sits at the base of the Golden Ears Mountains.
