The Women’s Opportunity Award program assists women who provide the primary source of financial support for their families by giving them the resources they need to improve their education, skills and employment prospects.

Each year, more than $1.5 million is awarded to more than 1,000 women, many of whom have overcome enormous obstacles including poverty, domestic violence and/or drug and alcohol abuse.

In addition to providing the primary financial support for their families, eligible applicants must be enrolled in, or have been accepted to, a vocational/skills training program or an undergraduate degree program and must demonstrate financial need. Also, please note only residents of Soroptimist International of the Americas’ member countries and territories are eligible to apply.

I’m looking for help to obtain my dream, make it reality. Obtaining a Post Grad or Post Document which would enable me to oompete for jobs, and finally obtain, ( after 8 years working part time and being on EI over the years to fill in when no work is available). Full time employment would better ableme to meet the need of my two children and maintain a stable home environment. They have suffered significant povety as have I. My grades in school have always been above average and I’m totally confident I could fulfill this committment if I obtain a post Bach or Master’s in my area of expertise where I can compete for job postings.
