ProgramsClub Grants for Women and Girls: Soroptimists work to improve the lives of women and girls in their communities and throughout the world. Often the abilities and ambitions of clubs exceed their financial resources. To help clubs meet community need, Soroptimist introduced the Soroptimist Club Grants for Women and Girls in 1997 to assist with community service projects that improve the lives of women and girls. Domestic Violence Initiatives: In 1994, Soroptimist International of the Americas formally adopted the prevention of domestic violence as a major focus. Currently, Soroptimists participate in an annual event designed to focus attention on domestic violence as a workplace concern. Ruby Award: For Women Helping Women: Western Canada Region is seeking nominations from business or volunteer organizations. The purpose is to recognize and honor those who work to improve the status of women in our society through Soroptimist International of the America’s "Ruby Award: For Women Helping Women" recognition program. Violet Richardson Award: The Violet Richardson Award is a recognition program for young women ages 14-17 engaged in volunteer action within their communities or schools. Women's Opportunity Awards: The Women’s Opportunity Awards program is Soroptimist’s major service project. The awards improve the lives of women by giving them the resources they need to improve their education, skills, and employment prospects. |
