SI of Banff National Park

Charter Year: 1960

For over 45 years SI of Banff members have worked and played together to raise funds for special projects, which directly benefit women and girls in their community. As well, they place their focus on international projects, such as Project Independence: Women Survivors of War and the SI President's Appeal to Stop Malaria in the South African province of Benin.

Women's Opportunity Award

The Women's Opportunity Awards have been offered every year. In total we have awarded about $25,000 in the Womens Opportunity Awards.

Violet Richardson Award

We have awarded the VRA award each year. This year the recipient is Sarah Murphy. Her organization is the Cadets.

Awards Evenings

The Awards "event" is held in June and recipients are invited to the evening.

Main Fundraiser

SI of Banff's stellar fundraiser is the Annual Dinner and Entertainment at the Banff Park Lodge. This year the theme was "Hats off to Women." We raise about $20,000 annually which we use to support the Alberta Breast Cancer Research Foundation and other local causes.

Service Projects

SI of Banff's service projects provide support for lunch programs for the local elementary and middle schools. This program provides a daily lunch for students who otherwise would go hungry.

History of Banff National Park
